Harmonies 10
So after our preformance I didn't feel as good as I should have. The preformance overall went pretty well I just believe that I could have done more on my part. I am still happy with performing but I still need to work on overcoming my fear of audiences. The whole time I was singing I could feel my heat beating out of my chest. It was as if it took over my whole body but the more I sang the more confident I became and by the end of the preformance I was alright. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to collaborate and sing with these wonderful girls and we plan to meet again and learn some new songs! Who knows maybe someday we will make it big! Thanks to all our followers and I hope you enjoyed our journey so far.

It's preformance day!! I am so excited and nervous! Saturday we met up again for about 3 hours. We worked hard to perfect our songs and we also worked on what arrangement to stand in for Summertime. My sister who is in RBs madrigal choir listened to us and would give us constructive criticism. It was helpful to have someone listen to us because with other people around I get nervous and I have to conquer those fears. My sister advised us to look at the audiences forehead instead of their eyes because then we could loose focus more easily and mess up. Here is also a reminder to add us on snapchat @ the_harmonies we are up to 35 followers shout out to all our fans! Our group is also meeting at 7 this morning to go over our songs and be ready for 4th period!! Wish us luck.

Harmonies 8
Hey guys it totally slipped my mind to tell y'all that I made a snapchat for our group! Add us at theharmonies ! I post stuff on our story when we practice so it's filled with fun and beautiful music. This week we have practiced for about 3 hours and we have finalized what we are going to preform on Monday. We plan to sing the first part of White winter Hymnal and then we will sing the entire Summertime song. So now at our practices we go at slower tempos through the whole song to hear each chord and to make the song better. We really need to work on the tempo and the clapping in the White winter Hymnal. We need to work on the higher notes in the song Summertime as well. We still have a lot of work to do but hopefully it will be ready and finalized by Monday. This completes our 20 hours but I will still post a couple more for when we meet up again to practice

Harmonies 7
This Saturday our acapella group was able to meet up for 2 hours! We worked on completely going through White Winter Hymnal. Unfortunately the clapping parts makes it hard and the song is very repetitive. We wanted to show how much we developed as a group and the skill we have required writhing these 20 hours. We decided that since we also have worked on Summer Time, which is more vocally advanced, that we should create a song mashup. WWH is a fun exciting song while ST shows our talent so it will be a fun live performance.

This week we worked on our same 2 songs. In total this week came to about 5 hours. Throughout the week we focused on memorizing the clapping sequences for White Winter Hymnal and starting strong and being confident in our first notes. Sometimes this week we did not have practice with our entire group this was hard because without all 4 parts the song does not sound complete. This really shows how each part matters. Now that I am more confident in my notes I
need to focus on when to take a breath. Since I am the only one singing my part I need to take a breath when no one else is so there is no pause in the song.

Harmonies 5
So it has been break for the past couple of days... I have worked for a total of 3 hours over break on my own. I reviewed our 2 songs that we have been trying out such as White Winter Hymnal and Summer time. I still have trouble with the clapping part of WWH but practice makes perfect! Summer Time is more difficult vocally and just remembering the notes when we split is a little harder than I thought without a whole choir to back you up. I have also been learning a lot about overcoming my stage fright. For example one of the videos I watched was The Science Of Stage Fright by Ted-Ed. When your digestion shuts down and stops delivering nutrients and oxygen to vital organs you get the butterflies in your stomach feeling which I have experienced many times. The ways to fight these butterflies away is with lots of practice and right before a performance to stretch your arms up and take a deep breath. This is supposed to trick a part of your brain into releasing stress. I will surely put these tips to good use the next time I perform!

Harmonies 4
We practiced for 2:30 the past 2 days using lunch, class time and tutorial. Which makes 7 hours in total. This time we focused on the clapping parts of White Winter Hymnal while Carrie was gone. It was hard at first but we seemed to figure most of it out.. We just need to keep going over our music practice makes perfect! We are trying to run individual parts so we can help eachother figure out the parts they need help on. This is very useful because then the whole song will sound better when we put it together. Then we practiced our songs and tried to catch Carrie up!

Harmonies 3
The past two days we worked on our song by pentatonix for 1:45 using class time and lunch. We have been slowly peicing together while working through obstacles like changing the notes if they are too low and trying to remember our notes. We try to sing with the YouTube video in my last post and we use the piano to help know our starting notes for each phrase. We plan to find another song but our priorities rest in the completion of the White Winter Hymnal.

Harmonies 1
So today was our first group practice! We met in Mrs. Shemmel's room for lunch and 5th period which was about an hour and 45 minutes. We spent the time looking for music for our 4 parts: Soprano 1 Summer, Soprano 2 Elena , Alto1Mackenzie, Alto 2 Carrie. It was hard because most music we found was not in the parts we needed. With pentatonix being our inspiration, we decided to start off with one of their easier songs. We choose white winter hymnal. In this piece there is 5 parts. We chose to only use the first 3 parts because the other two were too low. The 3rd part was still pretty low so we decided to change it an octave higher and have summer sing that part. So Summer sings Scotts part an octave higher. I sing Kirstie's part and Mackenzie and Carrie sing Mitches part. We decided to have 2 people sing the lowest part because with our high voice parts it is harder to hear the lower notes when combined.

Hey family, friends and fans,
Mackenzie and I have decided to create an a Capella group! Our group consists of Summer Scott, Carrie Liu, Mackenzie Hemming and I. We hope to create our own social media profiles on snapchat and Instagram to be able to get gigs performing live. I want to research about conquering the butterflies in my stomach every time I preform and discover how to blend our groups voices together.
